SA trainer gets lifetime ban

It’s hard to forget the terrible drone footage filmed last year showing a man repeatedly kicking and punching greyhound dogs and puppies.

GRSA has handed down a lifetime ban and a $220,000 fine to trainer Tony Rasmussen who pleaded not guilty to all charges. Lisa Rasmussen received a $20,000 fine and has been disqualified for 15 years.

The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds calls on Greyhound Racing South Australia, Premier Peter Malinauskas and Katrine Hildyard MP to ensure that these bans and fines are enforced.

The two trainers involved must also face charges under the Animal Welfare Act 1985 offence provisions.

There is no reason why they should not face the same charges as other South Australians who have abused dogs in this way.
