Dougie & Wylie were malnourished, injured and abandoned

Wylie and Dougie abandoned, injured and malnourished

Fireside evenings, yummy meals, comfort, love & affection for the gorgeous Wylie, and his brother, Dougie, now.

Since coming to FOTH a couple of weeks ago, 4 year old Wylie is starting to relax into the routine of regular nutritious meals, freedom, comfort and cuddles.

Kenneled for months with inadequate feed, bedding & exercise, Wylie & his brother, Dougie, both show heartbreakingly obvious signs of their neglect.

Poor Wylie was surrendered to a Vet in poor condition, malnourished (24kg), with a terrible coat, & ‘happy tail’. He then underwent castration, dental surgery for removal of 3 canines, and a tail wound cleanse & dressing, that same day.

Two days later he (rather happily) endured a 7.5 hour car ride to come into our care. He is a total sweetie. That tail is so wiggly!!

His brother, Dougie, was surrendered a few weeks prior, at only 19kg, with many pressure sores. He also had a tail injury and underwent tail amputation. Dougie is an absolute darling too.

The racing owner had ‘boarded’ the dogs as he was moving and couldn’t take them with him.

He blamed the industry welfare regulator for not helping him.

The lady boarding the dogs blamed the owner for leaving them with her for six months and not seeking veterinary care when she requested.

These beautiful boys are victims of the Greyhound racing industry that will continue to breed more dogs whilst thousands already suffer, with nowhere to go.

At least life has changed for these two.

Welcome to the good life, Wylie and Dougie!

A huge thanks to the volunteers and Vets that helped with their rescue.
